Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 31, 2026
Brain Food is operated by Faithful Labs ("we", "us", "our"). Brain Food is a parent-managed app: a parent creates and controls the account, and a child's device is paired in with a code. This policy explains what we collect from parents, what we collect about a child's in-app activity, and how each is used.
1. Information from the parent
- Phone number, used to sign in and verify your account (via our authentication provider, Clerk).
- Subscription and payment status, handled by Apple or Google and mirrored to us by our billing provider (RevenueCat); we never see your card number.
- Information you enter about your child to set up their profile: a first name or nickname, an age, and the content rules and interests you choose.
- Consent records: when you agreed to this policy and to our data practices, and which version.
2. Information about your child's activity
We never ask your child for their name, email, phone number, photos, or location. What we do collect, only after you've consented as the parent:
- When your child searches, the words they type, plus the titles and channels of the results, are sent to our AI filter to check them against your rules.
- What your child watches is saved so we can recommend better videos for them and so you can review their history.
- Videos play from YouTube inside the app. YouTube sees that a video was played, the same way it would if you watched on youtube.com. See Google's Privacy Policy at google.com/policies/privacy.
3. How we use this information
- To run the AI content filter and build each child's recommendations, using our third-party AI provider (currently DeepSeek, accessed via OpenRouter) and the YouTube Data API.
- To let you review your child's watch history and adjust their rules.
- To operate your subscription and account.
- To communicate with you about your account or material changes to our practices.
We do not sell your family's data, and we do not use it for advertising. We run no third-party advertising or analytics inside the parts of the app your child uses.
4. Children's privacy (COPPA)
Brain Food is a parent-managed family utility, not a service directed to children on its own, and we knowingly serve children under 13 only through a verified parent account. Before any information about a child is collected or processed, the parent must sign in, subscribe, and explicitly consent inside that authenticated session. A child cannot grant or accept consent, and the kid-facing side of the app has no consent screen at all.
As the parent, you can at any time, from the "Grown-ups" area of the app:
- Review everything your child has watched.
- Change your child's rules and preferences.
- Withdraw your consent, which immediately blocks further content and unpairs every device.
- Delete your child's profile and all associated data.
You can also reach us at support@joinbrainfood.com to exercise any of these rights.
5. Data security and retention
- Data is encrypted in transit.
- Every request involving a child's content is checked against your current consent status, and access is denied by default if that check fails or is out of date.
- We keep data only as long as needed to provide the service or as required by law, and delete it on request as described above.
6. Cookies and tracking
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. If you join our waitlist, we store the email address you provide only to notify you about Brain Food's availability.
7. Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to how we handle your or your child's information, we will notify parents in the app or by email before it takes effect.
